ARCHETYPES APPEARING IN THE HERO’S JOURNEY Joseph Campbell was heavily influenced by the Swiss Psychiatrist Carl Jung whose theory of the collective unconscious involved archetypes—recurring images, patterns, and ideas from dreams and myths across various cultures. Monomyth stands for “thrilling instrumental soundscapes”, a rollercoaster ride in which the listener can lose themselves. It is the sound of five people searching for their musical boundaries and then moving beyond them.

It is the core structure of the myths, the journey that all heroes must undergo. It involves three rites of passage—separation, initiation, return. One of those stories could be the hero’s journey, or the monomyth, a concept developed by writer Joseph Campbell in his work The Hero with a Thousand Faces. Borrowing the term from James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake, Campbell describes the monomyth as a recurring pattern shared by multiple famous works from different times and cultures. Joseph Campbell defined a classic sequence of actions that are found in many stories.

The hero of the monomyth, our representative of Self, the totality of our individual and collective unconscious and conscious psyches, passes in his “adventures” through a series of transformative thresholds, which are representative of the psychic and, to an extent, the physical life.
